Scalp Facials

Inspired by Japanese Headspa and modern Esthiology and Trichology practices, Scalp Facials provide therapeutic cleansing of the scalp and hair. As a Scalp Specialist my goal is to offer an indulgent service that not only feels amazing, but yields benefits to your hair and scalp health.

Utilizing Biodynamic, Plant Based, and Organic ingredients, I will custom blend a treatment protocol that meets the unique needs of your scalp and your hair. Each Scalp Facial incorporates trichoscope analysis of the scalp, deep cleansing, exfoliating, herbal masks, and conditioning treatments that will allow your hair to flourish. Depending on the length of treatment chosen, you’ll experience extended scalp massage, crystal eye masks, steamed facial towels, and calming music. Scalp facials can help manage oily scalps, dry scalps, and dandruff, and help provide calming relief for those who suffer from psoriasis and eczema.

Please note, scalp facials are not intended to diagnose or treat disease, and are not a substitute for a dermatologist or other medical professional. If you are experiencing pain, discomfort, patchy loss of hair, or suspect you may have open sores or lesions, please seek medical care before booking. I cannot provide treatment to guests who have ringworm of the scalp, or lice.

 Scalp Facial FAQ

  • Scalp Facials are just like a traditional facial, but for your scalp and hair. I will identify any concerns you have (if any), and provide a relaxing cleansing, exfoliating, and treatment service. The service takes place in a 'comfort enhanced' version of the shampoo bowl, with low lighting, aromatherapy, and micro mist steam for your enjoyment. You should notice a reduction in flaking, itching, oiliness, and sensitivity. Scalp facials help jumpstart and maintain a healthy scalp microbiome, making care easier at home. You’ll leave feeling deeply relaxed, and will receive a full customized haircare plan for maintenance at home.

  • As a scalp specialist I can offer treatments that help offer relief for itching, flaking, sensitivity, oiliness, excessive shedding, breakage, and more. A scalp specialist is like an esthetician for the scalp- we do not diagnose medical conditions, or prescribe medications. I will always point you to the proper medical professional if I feel you need it.

You do not need to have scalp issues to enjoy a scalp facial- scalp facials are deeply relaxing, and for some who are sensitive to body contact, can provide just as much benefit as a massage while limiting contact.

Please note, I cannot provide treatment if your scalp has broken skin, oozing sores, lice, or ringworm. Scalp facials are not intended to diagnose or treat disease, and are not a substitute for medical advice. Clients who need medical intervention will be referred to a dermatologist when necessary.

  • I have a license in Cosmetology, which covers basic Esthiology (non medical skincare) and Trichology (non medical scalp specific skincare). I have also sought out a Certified Hairloss Practitioners Trichology certification through USTI, and a Scalp Specialist certification through Sara Hallajian, IAT, and scalp facial education through the Salty Scalp Academy.

  • Please come wearing your comfiest clothes, with warm socks and detangled hair. Hoodies and turtlenecks are not advised, they will get wet. If you use a heavy gel cast in your curls, you and I will both benefit from washing it out the day before. Excessive detangling and shampooing will reduce the time I have to offer therapeutic treatments. Please email me if you have questions.

  • Scalp Facials do not come with a blow dry, so plan to either leave damp with light product in the summer, or to sit under the hood dryer while I clean and prep for the next guest. You may add on a blow dry or diffuse for an additional charge.

    • Your eyes will be closed for an extended period of time, and some clients recommend not wearing contacts if you're prone to dry eyes.

  • Mondays are the only day I'm guaranteed to be working solo, and have unrestricted use of the shampoo bowl. This also means that we can discuss scalp issues and concerns in privacy :)

  • Yes, as long as it's not your first time getting a haircut with me- that would take a LONG time lol, and I wouldnt be able to do a full heat style.

  • Sorry, its not a recommended combo. Hair color can make your scalp sensitive and prone to overreacting. I think waiting a week between services is fine.

  • Scalp facials are designed to be therapeutic, multi-step services to relax and alleviate scalp concerns, and take 60-120 minutes. A microscope analysis and consultation guides me towards which treatments I'll use, and will vary from client to client.

Mini Treatments are single treatments to address simple concerns, and only add 15 minutes to your haircut service. They can be booked any day I work, as long as they are added to a haircut that has a wash included. They do not include custom treatment masks, microscope analysis, or targeted consultation.
